Scott McNamee

Saxophone and Bass Guitar Instructor

Scott began playing saxophone at the age of nine, and continued to play in school band from 4th grade through high school. In addition to playing in marching band and pep band, Scott was first chair saxophone in both concert band and jazz band, excelling in various playing styles. As Scott continued to progress and show his versatility as a musician and his adaptability to learn new instruments, Scott learned how to play bass clarinet, bassoon and string bass to perform in high school, and was so versatile by the time he had graduated high school, he performed in every act in his final spring concert except the women’s chorus. At the end of his senior year at Sheehan High School, Scott was awarded the Outstanding Musician Award for his ability and adaptability.

When Scott was 13, he began taking bass and guitar lessons with Pat Russo and became a very proficient bass guitar player in a very short amount of time. Scott plays several different styles of music on electric 4 and 5 string basses, as well as upright string bass, including pop, rock, alternative, punk, hard rock, country, jazz, folk, among others. Scott went on to play bass and sing back-up vocals for the Wallingford based emo-punk band Useless Knowledge from 2002-2007. Most recently, Scott performed as a bassist on the debut full length LP “Phases Of The Moon” for the rock band Twiin Souls. Currently, Scott is working with singer/songwriter Samantha Eck and guitarist Sean Hennessey on a yet to be named project with music coming soon.

Scott received his bachelor of arts from the University of New Haven in Music Industry in 2009, achieving outstanding grades in fields such as music theory, musicianship, ear training, and private study in several instruments including piano, drums, bass guitar, and voice.

  • Jon Peckman has been a professional drummer for 30 years, an instructor for 20, the published author of the drum instructional book 'Picture Yourself Drumming' and a lifelong Wallingford resident. After spending many years on the road with such regionl acts as Eight To The Bar and Jeff Pitchell & Texas Flood as well as forming a band with James Taylor/Jackson Browne/Don Henley alumnus guitarist Danny Kortchmar, Jon decided to devote more of his time to helping young drummers meet their goals and have fun doing it

  • Jon's teaching method uses an encouraging coaching style to facilitate an emphasis on theory and reading as well as ear training, using his additional abilities as a bassist to quickly give beginners the excitment of making music. Jon's rock music based curriculum is adjusted for each individual student to ensure consistent progress.
